KJ Pottery: Handmade mugs perfect for this autumnal season.
October 16, 2026
Picking favorites in this shop is a feat in itself, considering we feature incredible work from many artists. Alas, with the leaves changing and the days growing colder, I figured now is the opportune time to highlight some products and artists I have deemed my “Top Three Fall Picks.”
Nothing says homey quite like a cup of warm tea or hot cocoa after a long day in the chilly air. As the days get shorter, my urge to retreat into my humble abode grows ever stronger. Many ceramicists and potters create perfectly shaped, glazed vessels for warm, dreamy beverages. Still, my favorite at the moment is KJ Pottery, based in Spokane, Washington. Mugs like these never fail to baffle me at how someone can make something so effective and aesthetic by hand. With speckle-esque glazes in white and mossy tones, these mugs give off the perfect forest, fall, transitional vibe. However, in my opinion, the most important feature of these KJ Pottery creations is the unassuming but mighty thumb rest. Seriously, it’s a game changer. It takes your cozy game to the next level.
As the season continues to change, I find myself in a period of reflection. What better way to look back on the past year than with pen and paper? Denik, based in Logan, Utah, makes incredible lay-flat notebooks, perfect for whatever you choose to carry your scribing materials in. My collection of unused notebooks and journals is egregious, but if I had room for more, Denik would be my first choice. With so many cover designs, you’re bound to find one that speaks to your soul.
To me, autumnal vibes mean good tastes and smells. I want my senses to perk up at what’s in the air around me, so I’ve been an avid candle and incense burner for a few years now. I have go-to scents and habitually reach for the same brand/products. Still, since we added Brass Earth, based in Columbus, Ohio, to our shop, I’ve found myself gravitating toward their potent aromas and long-lasting burn time. I can confidently say our staff has fallen in love with this brand’s incense, and I am continually impressed by how long their products last.
As the year winds down, the seasons change, and the weather turns, I find joy in the small things like small gifts for myself or others. I turn to the tired and true, but also the new and exciting.
